







José Fernando Gomes Pereira
Master’s degree in Agronomic Engineering from the Escola Superior Agrária de Viseu, Postgraduate in Food Quality and Technology, and Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture.
Holds specialized training in the areas of Integrated Production, Organic Farming, Agricultural Mechanization, Plant Protection Products, Inspection of Spraying Equipment, Occupational Health and Safety, and Food Safety.
Certified trainer since 1998, recognized by DGADR and CCDR to provide training to technicians and operators, mainly in the areas of agriculture, safety, and mechanization.
Since 1999, has been part of Zona Verde CEA, Lda., where he serves as Training Manager and Coordinator, Trainer, and Safety Technician, combining technical experience with the training and qualification of professionals in the agricultural sector.
Katharina Nogal
Master’s in Geography – Resource Analysis and Management.
Specialization in remote sensing, drone and satellite data, and cartography.
Military and professional experience in reconnaissance and leadership of armored infantry, geospatial data analysis, high-voltage power grid planning, and process automation with QGIS, AutoCAD, R, and Python.
Pedro Rito
Assistant Professor at the University of Aveiro and Researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the research group on network architectures and protocols.
He completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering at Technische Universität Berlin, Germany, in 2019.
In 2018, he joined Cisco in Nuremberg, Germany, as a Hardware Engineer. Since 2020, at the Instituto de Telecomunicações, he has led the implementation of the Aveiro Tech City Living Lab, a large-scale experimentation platform in the city of Aveiro.
His current research interests include smart cities, vehicular communications, autonomous mobility and software-defined networks.
Nuno Borges Carvalho
Full Professor at the University of Aveiro and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Telecommunications, where he also heads the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics.
Fellow of the IEEE and URSI and author/co-author of more than 400 publications and several reference books in the fields of microwaves, RFID, wireless communications and power transfer.
He holds six patents and has held several leadership positions in IEEE and URSI, including serving as President of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) in 2023.
He has received several awards and distinctions, most notably the John Howard Dellinger Gold Medal from URSI in 2025. His main research interests include wireless communications, RFID, power transfer and radio-frequency circuits.
Pedro Silva
CTO of Dryad Networks, where he leads the development of Silvaguard – an autonomous drone platform that verifies and responds to fire alerts detected by Dryad’s sensor network.
He previously held leadership positions at Infarm, Noa Technologies and Kinematix, where he developed IoT solutions, artificial intelligence and connected hardware.
His track record includes autonomous hydroponic systems, large-scale wireless network infrastructures and low-cost fire detection sensors.
He holds a Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Porto.
Bruno Santos
A Geographical Engineer and Project Manager with more than 25 years of experience in the field of Geomatics.
Specialist in the acquisition, processing, and analysis of geospatial and 3D data, applied to national and international projects in engineering, infrastructure, territorial management, and monitoring.
Experienced in project and team coordination, technical consultancy, R&D, and professional training, with a particular focus on developing methodologies and integrating different technologies for the acquisition and processing of geospatial information.
Bárbara Oliveira
Holds a degree in Agronomy from the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA), awarded in 1993, specializing in Plant Protection.
Since joining the public administration, she has worked continuously in the field of the assessment and authorization of plant protection products, initially as an expert in environmental and ecotoxicological assessment and, later, taking on responsibilities for the management and coordination of activities related to the implementation of the national regulatory framework governing the placing on the market, authorization, and sustainable use of plant protection products.
She is currently Director of Services at the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary Affairs (DGAV), where she is responsible for coordinating activities in the aforementioned areas, as well as for national and international institutional representation. She also serves as the Portuguese national delegate in several working groups at EU level, contributing to policy development and to the implementation of EU and national legislation in these areas.
